OUR SCHOOL

Welcome to our website.

Our school was built in 1986.We have four mainstream classrooms and a General Purpose Room. This year our new extension which contains two SET rooms was completed.

The village of Ballyglass is situated 10 miles from Castlebar, 9 miles from Claremorris & 8 miles from Ballinrobe.

Ballyglass Community Childcare is situated at the rear of our school grounds. The Childcare service caters for babies, toddlers, playschool, preschool, breakfast club and afterschool children.

Junior and Senior infants had a fantastic day at @graunepetfarm on their school tour. The children got the opportunity to feed and see lots of different animals, along with having great fun in the adventure centre 🏜️🐷🐐

We’re delighted to welcome Martin Costello to the school for the next couple of weeks. The children have been thoroughly enjoying Gaelic football and are practising lots of skills, such as soloing, kick and hand-passing, shooting, as well as a fun game of football☀️ #gaelicgames #connachtgaa

2nd Class had their Communion retreat in Ballintubber Abbey in preparation of their big day next week ✝️✝️ It was a very enjoyable day and they were also interviewed by @rteradio1 📻 Great day had by all ☀️

As part of SESE, 1st and 2nd class were busy looking for wild flowers all around the school last week🌸🌺🌼🪻

Term 2 was so much fun 🤗 We’re still busy skipping around Europe, played some rounders and tennis, 2nd class made their first confessions and 5th and 6th class girls were FAI Mayo runners-up ⚽️ Let’s hope term 3 is as enjoyable ☀️ @active_school_flag

We have been very active in Mountpleasant NS ☀️This week, we started tennis, swimming and skipped to different countries in Europe as part of the ‘Skip Around Europe’ challenge. Well done to our 5th and 6th class pupils who represented their local club @claremorriscoltsrugby at half time in the @connachtrugby verses @munsterrugby rugby game held in McHale Park over the weekend. What an experience for both pupils 🏉🏟️

🐝 We’ve been as busy as bees in Mountpleasant the last two weeks 🐝 We’ve been tasting fruits and vegetables 🍎🍌🥒, solving maths puzzles using the iZak 9’s, learning all about Australia, preparing for First Confessions, producing excellent art and having our own Seó Faisin 👗👚#fooddudes

☘️☘️Seachtain na Gaeilge and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations were in full swing in Mountpleasant NS this week ☘️☘️ We had lots of fun in the Seisiún Ceoil, participating in Tráth na gCeist, dancing in the Céilí and completing excellent art pieces 🇮🇪☘️

⭐️ 3-D SESE projects on a famous landmark ⭐️ Well done 3rd and 4th class for completing these excellent projects as part of their homework. The work that was put into them is a credit to the children ⛪️🛖🌉 ⭐️

Lego day at school was so much fun in all classrooms today 🧱👷‍♂️👷‍♀️ As part of engineering week, the children had the opportunity to be creative and they certainly impressed everyone with their skills! ⭐️⭐️ #engineersweek #lego

Two successful trips to @solar21park_milebush for the FAI Mayo soccer competitions. The boys and girls had excellent days out and we are delighted that our girls are the FAI South Mayo Soccer Champions 🏅👏🏻⚽️🙌🏻 #fai #mayoschoolsfootball

The skipping workshop was a huge success ��🤗 A big thanks to @sheerfitness_ for teaching the children all about the importance of skipping and how it enhances our fitness levels. Let’s keep practising!! 🙌🏻😊

#mathsweek has been very enjoyable in Mountpleasant this week. Games, quizzes, scavenger hunts and lots of other fun activities have helped enhance the children’s learning 🧮 @mathsireland

This years representatives for the Credit Union Art competition. Well done to all the children who created amazing pieces of work. They all showcased their ‘Joys of Life’ in unique and creative ways 🎨🖼️

As part of 5th and 6th classes geography lesson on ‘People at Work’, they visited @malonefarmmachinery today. Big thanks to Mike and Jarlath for showing the children around. They had a great day! 🚜

We were delighted to have @tom.lyons.37 and @marymcevb with us for a trad session today. The children sounded amazing and have been busy practising with Tom since we came back to school 🎻🎼
